Special Green Number Plates for Electric Vehicles Introduced in Punjab

In a major move to support and identify electric vehicles (EVs), the Punjab Excise and Taxation Department – Motor Branch has officially launched specially designed green number plates for all types of electric vehicles across the province.

Purpose of the Green Plates

According to the Additional Director General (ADG) of Excise, these unique green number plates have been introduced specifically to easily distinguish electric vehicles from other types of vehicles on the road. This new design will help in better regulation, recognition, and promotion of environmentally friendly transportation.

Mandatory for EV Owners

All owners of electric vehicles in Punjab will now be required to use these green number plates. This rule applies to:

  • Electric cars
  • Electric motorbikes
  • Electric buses
  • Electric rickshaws

The purpose is to make electric vehicles instantly recognizable for both regulatory authorities and the public.
