Punjab Budget 2025-26 to Be Presented on June 16 Instead of June 13

The Punjab government has officially decided to present the budget for the upcoming fiscal year 2025–26 on June 16, 2025, instead of the previously announced June 13.

Punjab’s Finance Minister, Mujtaba Shuja-ur-Rehman, stated that the budget preparation is still underway and will require a bit more time. He confirmed that the upcoming budget will be tax-free, meaning that no new taxes will be imposed on the public.

For the first time in Punjab’s history, a record-breaking development budget of over Rs. 1,000 billion is expected to be announced. This would mark a major milestone in the province’s development planning.

According to official sources, a total of 853 development schemes have already been included in the draft of the new budget:

  • 520 are ongoing projects, for which Rs. 160.82 billion has been proposed.
  • 333 are new development schemes, with a proposed allocation of Rs. 135.29 billion.
  • In addition, Rs. 57.40 billion is likely to be allocated for six other major development projects.

It is worth noting that the Sindh government is also scheduled to present its budget for the new fiscal year on June 16, 2025, the same day as Punjab.
