Curfew Imposed in North Waziristan Following Major Counter-Terror Operation

On Saturday, authorities in North Waziristan—a district in Pakistan’s Khyber Pakhtunkhwa province—officially announced the enforcement of a curfew due to heightened security concerns.

The curfew will be in effect from 5:00 AM to 7:00 PM as per the announcement by the district administration. During these hours, all major roads will be closed to general traffic, and residents are advised to stay indoors and cooperate with security personnel to ensure safety and order.

The curfew comes in the aftermath of a major anti-terror operation conducted by the Pakistan Army, in which 30 militants linked to the India-backed extremist group known as “Fitna Khawarij” were killed in two separate operations.

As per the official statement from the Inter-Services Public Relations (ISPR), militants tried to infiltrate from across the Pakistan-Afghanistan border into North Waziristan. Upon detection of suspicious movement near Hassan Khel, the security forces launched a targeted operation. The militants killed were reportedly affiliated with Indian-sponsored propaganda and terror networks operating near the border region.

The curfew is a precautionary measure to maintain law and order and ensure that follow-up search operations can be carried out smoothly without civilian interference or risk. It also reflects the intensifying efforts of Pakistani security agencies to root out cross-border terrorism and dismantle extremist networks in the region.

Citizens have been urged to remain vigilant and extend full cooperation with law enforcement agencies to help restore peace and stability in the area.

This incident highlights the ongoing challenges Pakistan faces in countering terrorism and securing its borders, especially in sensitive areas like North Waziristan.
