Consistent Rise in Broiler Chicken Prices Across Pakistan: Post-Eid Dip Followed by Sharp Hike

In the last four days, the prices of broiler chicken have gone up significantly across Pakistan. Just after Eid ul Adha, chicken prices had dropped and were being sold for less than Rs. 400 per kg, but now they have jumped to Rs. 460–480 per kg in various cities.

After Eid ul Adha, the demand for chicken went down because people were eating sacrificial meat. As a result, chicken prices also fell. However, as the Eid meat stock finished and demand returned to normal, chicken prices started rising again—and quickly.

Chicken Prices in Major Cities (as of June 18, 2025)

CityPrice per Kg
LahoreRs. 470 – 480
KarachiRs. 460 – 470
IslamabadRs. 470
RawalpindiRs. 470 – 475
PeshawarRs. 465 – 470
MultanRs. 465 – 475
FaisalabadRs. 470 – 480
QuettaRs. 460 – 470

According to poultry traders:

  • Prices might continue to fluctuate in the coming days.
  • Chicken supply needs to improve for rates to go down.
  • The post-Eid price drop was temporary and the current increase is part of a market adjustment.

A seller in Lahore said, “During Eid, demand dropped and we ordered less stock. But now people are buying chicken again, and we don’t have enough birds, so prices have increased.”

The rise in chicken prices after Eid ul Adha has become a serious concern for many households. Prices have increased by Rs. 70 to Rs. 90 per kg in just four days, reaching Rs. 460–480 per kg. Unless the supply improves and the government steps in to control the market, prices may continue to rise in the coming days.
