Around Rs. 2.105 billion has been allocated to repair and upgrade 25 metro bus stations. These upgrades include structural repairs and improving the facilities for better commuter experience. - Switch to Solar Energy
The government will spend Rs. 1.7 billion to run all metro bus stations using solar power. This move will help reduce electricity costs and make the system more environment-friendly. - Track Repair and Upgrades
An amount of Rs. 1.5 billion will go towards fixing and maintaining the metro bus tracks to ensure smoother and safer travel. - Other Improvements
The project also includes polishing station platforms, renovating ticket booths, and improving pedestrian bridges to make the overall system more modern and user-friendly.
Future Plan: Electric Buses
As part of the long-term vision, the Punjab government also plans to introduce electric buses in the Metro Bus fleet. This step will help reduce pollution and bring Lahore’s public transport in line with modern, green standards.
Project Planning and Monitoring
The National Engineering Services Pakistan (NESPAK) prepared a detailed cost plan for this project. The initiative has full support from the Chief Minister and is part of the government’s broader efforts to improve public transport and encourage clean energy use.
This project is a major step toward offering better transport services and protecting the environment. By shifting to solar energy and planning for electric buses, the Punjab government is working to make Lahore’s transport system cleaner, smarter, and more efficient for the public.
