Lahore: Two firing incidents took place at the house of a top court judge in Lahore on Sunday. According to the Supreme Court’s PRO, Justice Ijazul Ahsan’s residence was targeted twice – first at 4:30am and then 9:00am on Sunday.
Following the incident, Chief Justice of Pakistan (CJP) Mian Saqib Nisar reached Justice Ijaz’s house and summoned Punjab IG Arif Nawaz Khan. The SC official said that the chief justice is personally monitoring the situation. A forensic team has also reached the scene to collect evidence while ballistic experts are called in to determine the nature of fire. The police officials are investigating whether it was a targeted attack or aerial firing.
Punjab Chief Minister Shehbaz Sharif has taken notice of the incident, ordering an investigation. Meanwhile, PSO to CM Punjab, who arrived at Justice Ahsan’s residence, was not allowed to meet the top court judge by the SC administration.
Prime Minister Shahid Khaqan Abbasi also condemned incident of firing at the residence of Justice Ijaz Ul Ahsan in Lahore, said a press release by the PM Office. “The Prime Minister directed the concerned authorities at the federal and provincial level to bring the culprits to task at the earliest.”
